This fun Taco “play with your food” meal is a real hit with the kids.  It’s the perfect meal when you and the kids are craving tacos but want something a little different.  It’s also a perfect interactive party food.  Kids get to paint their own taco boat, make the sail, and then fill it with food.  How fun is that?

We utilized some pre-made tortilla bowls that are already shaped into ovals, which work really great.  We are working on some additional fun recipes that incorporate these handy bowls, so stay tuned.  Another option, of course, is to use plain tortillas, brush with a thin layer of olive oil and then press into muffin tins.  These get baked at 350 for about 8 minutes.

We love color and playing with food in new ideas.  This is just one way you can spice up dinenr to make it a fun and memorable event.

Paint the Tortilla boats using a drop of olive oil mixed with a drop of food coloring.  The paints are best applied with small paintbrushes, and you can even use those inexpensive paintbrushes that come with kids paint sets. Just be sure to wash them first.
