This cute little turkey muffin salad or turkey shaped appetizer plate will be a big hit with your guests, especially the kids, on Thanksgiving day. Make this little turkey as a starter for Thanksgiving dinner. It’s a fun beginning dish to set the theme on turkey day. Kids can even help assemble the turkeys on the plates. Or set out an example of one and put all the pieces in a few containers or on a big tray and let each child put together their very own turkey to gobble gobble before the big meal. And how cool its a vegetarian friendly turkey!
And why not pull out all the stops for special holidays- add those extra touches, pull out the nice dishes, cover the tables (or kids tables) in craft paper and let them decorate it. And if you can create cute, fun foods and the kids get to use their hands to eat it- all the better.
We love coming up with new ideas for each holiday or just to make a weeknight meal feel special.
What you will need:
Pumpkin bread/ muffin
Carrots
Seedless red grapes
Seedless green grapes
Slice of apple – eyes & wattle
Cut a round slice of pumpkin bread or a pumpkin muffin for the turkey body. Wash and peel carrots, then cut lengthwise slices. Cut feathers and legs from these slices. Cut the end from a red grape and use large piece for head. Cut “wattle” from a thin apple slice and, using a small straw, cut out two little eyes. Moistness of apple will make eyes stick to the turkey’s head. Arrange on plate.
Now serve and enjoy!
